What’s happening to my Stockpile account?

After a decade of helping families invest for their futures, Stockpile is winding down its financial services. As part of this change, your Stockpile accounts will transition to trusted partners designed to support both adult and kids’ investing experiences.

Adult brokerage accounts will move to Public, an investing platform offering real-time fractional stock investing, crypto trading, and IRAs. Adult crypto portfolios will move to Public, with crypto supported through zerohash. Kids’ brokerage accounts will transition to Stash, a financial platform built specifically for long-term investors.

Do I need to do anything?

Nope! We’ll take care of the transfers, and no action is required on your part. You will receive an email confirming once the migration is complete, with instructions on how to onboard on their platform.

Can I opt out?

If you’re interested in opting out of this transition, you may do so by closing your account or transferring your assets to another brokerage before April 16, 2026. If you choose to liquidate and close your account, please make sure the linked bank account on file is correct so the funds can be sent successfully.

What’s Public? What does it cost?

Public is an online investing platform where you can invest in a wide range of financial products. Public offers real-time fractional stock investing, crypto trading, IRAs, and more, all without a membership fee.

What’s Stash? What does it cost?

Stash is a digital financial platform built to help everyday people save and invest over the long-term with confidence. It has earned a 4.7 rating on the App Store with over 1M users and ~$5BN in customer assets under management.

Customers who choose to activate a Stash subscription will unlock the full Stash experience for $4.95/month - a savings of nearly 60% from their list price of $12/month. This includes easy access to your accounts through the Stash app, along with Stash investing accounts (Brokerage, IRA, managed portfolios and up to 10 custodials), 3% match on IRA contributions, personalized guidance from Money Coach, and a Stash banking account with the Stock-Back® debit card, which rewards everyday purchases with stock.

Customers who do not choose to activate a Stash subscription will be charged a $3.99/month account maintenance fee. They will still be able to access their account and funds.

What if I already have a Stash account?

If there is already an open and active Stash account, the transferred account will be added to the existing Stash relationship.

If the Stash account is closed or not in good standing, contact Stash Support after the conversion is complete for assistance with reactivating the account.

Will portfolios stay the same?

Adult portfolios will move over to Public exactly as is, with the exception of cryptocurrency positions USDC and LRC, which will be liquidated in advance of the transfer, with proceeds moved to Public. Kids’ portfolios will also move over as is to Stash, with the exception of cryptocurrency positions, which will be liquidated in advance of the transfer.

How much longer will the Stockpile app be available?

You’ll continue to have access to the Stockpile app for 30 days, until April 17, 2026, and you will not be charged a Stockpile membership fee during this time. After that date, the app will no longer be accessible, so we recommend downloading any important documents you may need.

How do I get my documents?

To access account statements and trade confirmations, log into the app, navigate to the side menu, and tap “Documents.”

If you need any historical tax documents, you can obtain them directly from APEX, our clearing firm, by simply logging in or setting up access at this page. If you need any statements or tax documents for your crypto account, please reach out to Bakkt (our current crypto service provider) at help@bakkt.com.
